Summary/Objective:

Novellus Cherry Creek is looking for a cook who will prepare meals, follow establishment recipes and clean dishes for our senior residents. Duties include preparing ingredients, adhering to the community menu, and following food health and safety procedures. Cook, clean, assist other cooks and staff and deliver food in a fast-paced environment. Work may include operating a grill, oven, or fryer. Previous experience in a team environment and various cooking methods preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare meals and snacks that are consistently tasteful, nutritious, and appealing to residents and guests.
  • Maintain a sanitary, orderly, and safe kitchen and dining environment.
  • Assist with menu planning, reviewing, and adjusting menus with Supervisor to accommodate foods in season, special events, and holidays.
  • Alter or adapt meals to accommodate the special dietary needs of residents.
  • Help with ordering, delivery, and inventory of food, supplies, and equipment, as directed.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of food for infection control.
  • Notify Supervisor of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
  • Recognize improvement opportunities.
  • Prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Develop constructive relationships with co-workers, residents, and families.
  • Stay in compliance with State and Federal food handling and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of or ability to learn sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
  • Basic understanding of or ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
  • Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.

 

Education aND Experience:

  • High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
  • Previous experience as a busboy, washer, waiter, cook, or relevant work experience
  • One year of related experience preferred.
